In a game that featured the Blue division leaders of the HFL South Conference, the Stallions pulled out all the stops and came away victorious. "It was a crazy night, but I was confident we would pull out the win," said coach Mike Metzger. Kentucky's high powered offense jumped out to a 20-7 lead early in the first quarter, but was unable to score after that.
The second half saw the Stallions slowly let the Warriors chip away at their cushion to make 20-13 on a failed two-point attempt, before scoring a potential tying TD in the 4th.
It was then that the Stallions special teams unit, which had been uncharacteristically silent throughout the evening finally chimed in, blocking the PAT and preserving the 20-19 advantage.
On the ensuing drive, the Stallions chewed up clock and methodically moved the ball down the field to the 11 yard line before turning the ball over on downs and forcing the Warriors to try and go 90 yards in under two minutes. 4 plays later the Warriors turned the ball over on down themselves, and the Kentucky ran out the clock in a victory formation.
"This has been a special day, not only for our program, but for me personally," said Metzger, who was celebrating his 11th wedding anniversary.
With the win, the Stallions claim first place in the division, with two games left.
